Tokyo, 5 March 2025 - Rex Zhang, Chief Operating Officer of OneInfinity, joined a panel of regulators and industry leaders at the FSA Blockchain Roundtable, held as part of the GFTN Forum Japan during Japan Fintech Week 2025.
The Roundtable was convened by Elevandi Japan in collaboration with Japan's Financial Services Agency (FSA), bringing together regulators, industry leaders, and academics to discuss the future of crypto, stablecoins, tokenisation, embedded supervision, and Japan's Web3 development.
Rex joined the session "Safeguarding the Crypto Ecosystem: Lessons from the Bybit Hack and the Imperative for Stronger Cybersecurity & AML/CFT Measures," examining what the largest digital-asset theft on record means for how the industry approaches cybersecurity and anti-money-laundering practices going forward. Panelists included David Katz, VP for Strategy & Public Policy (APAC) at Circle; Dea Markova, Director of Policy at Fireblocks; Angela Ang, Head of Policy and Strategic Partnerships (APAC) at TRM Labs; Chengyi Ong, Head of Policy (APAC) at Chainalysis; and Adam Zarazinski, CEO of Inca Digital, with Ryosuke Ushida, Chief Fintech Officer of Japan's Financial Services Agency, also taking part.
"The Bybit hack showed that even the most sophisticated custody setups can be breached, and the industry's response can't stop at better technology alone. Insurance and risk transfer need to be part of how the ecosystem builds resilience, alongside the cybersecurity and AML/CFT controls we discussed on the panel. It was a valuable session to compare notes with regulators and industry peers on how Japan, and the region more broadly, can get ahead of the next incident rather than just react to the last one," Rex said.
The appearance builds on OneInfinity's ongoing work with regulators and industry partners across Asia on digital asset risk management, including its recently announced partnership with BitGo to bring custodial risk insurance to the Japanese market.
