OneInfinity and Dubai Insurance hosted the first Building Trust in Web3 Forum in Dubai. More than 80 leaders from virtual-asset service providers, regulators, banks, law firms and analytics firms attended the event to discuss Web3 risk management, regulation and security.
Following the theft of US$1.4 billion from Bybit, Alvin Kwock, Co-founder and CEO of OneInfinity, and Navin Gupta, CEO of Crystal Intelligence, discussed how the attack happened, how the stolen funds could be tracked and how insurance can help reduce the impact of similar incidents.
Paul Boots, Head of Sector Development at the Virtual Assets Regulatory Authority (VARA), opened the forum and said, “The Building Trust in Web3 Forum is a welcome addition to Dubai’s events calendar.” He also explained VARA’s role in supporting sustainable Web3 growth in Dubai.
Ruben Bombardi, General Counsel at VARA, discussed VARA’s work on custody, real-world asset tokenisation and derivatives. Speakers from OneInfinity, Ripple, MANTRA and Crystal Intelligence also discussed how Web3 is developing in the United Arab Emirates and around the world.
