Dubai, 11 March 2025 - More than 80 leaders from across the Web3 industry gathered in Dubai for the first edition of the Building Trust in Web3 Forum, co-hosted by OneInfinity and Dubai Insurance. Speakers from Dubai's Virtual Assets Regulatory Authority (VARA) joined representatives from OneInfinity, Ripple, MANTRA, and Crystal Intelligence to discuss the state of the Web3 industry in the UAE and beyond.
The timing gave the forum added weight: it took place just days after the largest digital-asset theft on record, a US$1.4 billion breach at exchange Bybit. Alvin Kwock, AIFT Group Co-founder and CEO, joined Navin Gupta, CEO of Crystal Intelligence, to walk attendees through how the attack unfolded, how the stolen funds were traced, and what role insurance can play in helping the industry absorb the impact of incidents like it.
VARA's Head of Sector Development, Paul Boots, opened the forum with remarks on the authority's mandate to support sustainable growth in Dubai's Web3 sector. VARA General Counsel Ruben Bombardi also spoke, covering the regulator's priorities across custody rules, real-world asset tokenisation, and derivatives.
OneInfinity, a specialist insurer for digital assets, has operated in Dubai since 2023 through its partnership with Dubai Insurance Company. The partnership's custodial-risk insurance product received approval from the Central Bank of the UAE, and the pairing now supports virtual asset service providers (VASPs) across the region. The forum brought that same community of VASPs, regulators, banks, law firms, and analytics firms together in one room to work through the sector's live risk-management, regulatory, and security questions.
Paul Boots called the forum "a welcome addition to Dubai's events calendar," noting the value of convening the emirate's Web3 ecosystem to explore genuine opportunities in the space while pushing back against bad actors, and thanked OneInfinity and Dubai Insurance for organising it.
